Simulation

Simulation is defined as "the imitation of the operation of a process or system in the real world over time". It allows the adaptation of the plant to innovation and the integration of industry 4.0 methodologies.

3D simulations emulate the appearance of the real system including production, transports between processes, stock in progress, assembly, inventory level and shipments, therefore simplifying to see and understand what is happening and its root cause.

Simulation is generically considered only during the product design phase. However, the industry is popularizing its use in the later phase of the value chain: manufacturing. The positive results of this technique come from the identification of:
 - Bottlenecks
 - Opportunities for productivity increases
 - Possibilities of workforce optimization
 - New value chains
 - Waste in the production line
 - Deficiencies within the system

The main benefits of process experimentation in a virtual environment are:
 - Improved productivity in facilities
 - Cost reduction when planning new projects
 - Stock reduction
 - Layout optimization
 - Risk minimization
 - Optimization of resource use
 - Help with decision making
